Hobbies

I have always loved working with children. I honestly could not see myself doing anything other than teaching. I love it so much I also teach an hour away from my home during the summer months for half day summer classes! I love working with students and witnessing them have the "ah-ha" moment when something clicks! It makes me so happy to see my students understand something that they once found to be a challenge. I also enjoy challenging my students to try harder problems or concepts that they typically try to avoid. I recognize that when a student says they "hate" something in math, that usually means they aren't comfortable doing it and I focus on those concepts. During a typical weekly tutoring session I spend time reviewing any homework the student may have from school, review for upcoming assessments, revisit previous topics that the student is weak in, etc... I can supply additional materials for 'homework' from myself if the parent/student wishes. When a parent is home I always end my sessions with a summary of what we completed and how the student did. Outside of work I enjoy mostly outdoor activities such as, skiing, hiking, gardening, bicycling, etc... and spending as much time as I can with my family. I am married, have a 9 year old stepson, and a 4 year old German Shepard!
